FaceHush ("the App", "we", "us") is a mobile application that censors faces in photos and videos using on-device machine learning. This Privacy Policy explains what information is processed when you use FaceHush and how it is handled.

The short version: FaceHush processes everything on your device. No photos, no videos, no face data, and no personal information are ever sent to our servers or any third party.

1. Information We Do NOT Collect

FaceHush does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:

• Photos, videos, or images from your photo library
• Face data, face embeddings, or biometric identifiers transmitted to us or to any third party (face embeddings are created and stored only on your device, see Section 3a)
• Your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information
• Location data
• Device identifiers (IDFA, IDFV) for tracking purposes

2. On-Device Processing

All core functionality, including face detection, face matching, photo and video editing, and exporting, runs entirely on your device using on-device frameworks (Core ML and Google ML Kit, both running locally on your device). For videos, face detection, face tracking, and rendering of the final clip also run entirely on your device. Your photos and videos are never uploaded anywhere. The face library you build in the app (saved face entries with names) is stored exclusively in your device's local storage (AsyncStorage) and is never synced to any cloud service.

3. Local Storage

The App stores the following data locally on your device only:

• Face library: Names and face embeddings you save to match people across photos and videos. Stored on-device only.
• App settings: Your preferred censor style, export quality, and other preferences.
• Export history: A record of photos and videos you have exported (stored on-device only).
• Temporary processing files: While a video is analysed and rendered, the App writes temporary working files (such as frames and face crops) to its private cache on your device. These are cleaned up automatically and never leave your device.

This data never leaves your device and can be cleared at any time by deleting the App.

3a. Face Data

Face detection produces bounding-box coordinates for each face found in a photo or video. These exist only in memory for the duration of the editing session and are used solely to position the censor effect. They are discarded when you leave the editor.

If you choose to save a person to the Face Library, the App additionally computes a face embedding, a numeric representation of that face, so the App can match that person in later photos. Embeddings are computed on your device, stored only in the App's local storage on your device, and are never uploaded, shared, or backed up to us or to any third party. We have no technical means to access them.

Face data is retained until you delete the Face Library entry in the App or uninstall FaceHush. There is no server-side copy, so there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf.

4. Analytics

FaceHush does not currently collect analytics. The App contains no analytics service, and no usage data is sent to us or to any third party.

The App includes a Privacy setting that will control anonymous usage reporting if it is introduced in a future version. If that ever happens, this policy will be updated before the feature is enabled, and the reporting would cover only anonymous counts such as whether an export succeeded or failed. It would never include your photos, videos, face data, or any personal information, and you would be able to turn it off in the App under Settings, then Privacy.

5. Advertising

FaceHush does not display advertisements. The App contains no advertising service and no tracking technology, and it does not request permission to track you across other companies' apps and websites.

6. In-App Purchases

Subscriptions are processed entirely through the App Store or Google Play Store. FaceHush does not collect or store your payment information.

7. Photo Library Access

FaceHush requests access to your photo library to let you import photos and videos for editing and save censored exports back to your library. This permission is used only when you explicitly choose a photo or video, or export a result. We do not scan or index your library in the background.

8. Children's Privacy

FaceHush is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Data Security

Because all data is stored locally on your device and nothing is transmitted to external servers, the security of your data is protected by your device's own security features (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID). We recommend keeping your device software up to date.

10. Your Rights

Since we do not collect personal data, there is nothing for us to delete, correct, or export on our end. To remove all app data, simply uninstall FaceHush from your device. This deletes all locally stored face library entries, settings, and history.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
